Land Use Technician I/II

The County of Riverside's Transportation and Land Management Agency (TLMA) is recruiting to fill two (2) Land Use Technician I/II vacancies for the Land Use Consolidated Counter Services/Building and Safety Unit in Riverside, CA.

The Land Use Technician will play an important role in the permit case application intake process, interpreting county land use ordinances for the public, providing assistance to customers seeking guidance and advising on land development and structures.

The selected candidate will receive proposed plans for building permits, collect fees, conduct research using maps and assessment records, as well as determine plans and conformance to State and local building codes, construction plan requirements, easements, setbacks, road dedications and planning requirements.

Competitive candidates will have expertise in permit and plan reviews, land use, zoning planning, title searches, building inspections, map creation, or surveying.

They should also demonstrate proficiency with various data entry software and possess experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Blue Beam, or Public Land Use System (PLUS) software.

Furthermore, candidates with knowledge of building codes, County Ordinances 348 and 457, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and exceptional customer service skills are highly desired.

Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

The Land Use Technician I is a natural progression underfill for the Land Use Technician II.

Incumbents are eligible to promote to Land Use Technician II upon successful completion of their probationary period, which would include a satisfactory performance evaluation and any additional qualification requirements.

The Land Use Technician II is the experienced working level classification in the Land Use Technician series and reports to either a supervisory or management level position.

Incumbents are assigned a variety of field and office duties of average difficulty and are expected to perform these tasks with a minimum of supervision.

Advancement to the next level is obtained by competitive selection through an open recruitment.
