Cook (Part-Time) - Columbia Place Assisted Living

Position Summary
Columbia Place Assisted Living is seeking an energetic, positive, and team-oriented Cook who is passionate about serving seniors.

This role is responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and supporting overall dining services in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities


* Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious and appealing meals, including special diets and pureed foods, following standardized menus and portion control guidelines.


* Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and food service area in compliance with all health regulations.


* Monitor and record food temperatures; ensure presentation of meals is appealing and meets resident satisfaction.


* Assist in meal service and supervise kitchen staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.


* Participate in staff orientation and ongoing training for dietary personnel.


* Report resident care concerns or safety issues to the Administrator or Director of Nursing.


* Maintain proper sanitizer solution levels and adhere to cleaning schedules.

Qualifications


* High school diploma or equivalent required.


* Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care setting preferred.


* ServSafe Certification (must be obtained and maintained).


* Ability to read and follow recipes, understand technical instructions, and apply basic math skills (fractions, percentages, ratios).


* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.

Physical Requirements


* Frequent standing, walking, pushing/pulling, tasting, smelling, and reaching.


* Occasional sitting, climbing, kneeling, or crawling.


* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.


* Visual acuity to perform kitchen tasks safely and accurately.

Work Environment


* Low to moderate noise level.
