The Cook is responsible for managing and operating the kitchen in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, ensuring that high-quality meals are prepared and served in accordance with established menus, portion control guidelines, and dietary requirements.

This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen while working collaboratively with staff to meet the nutritional needs of residents.

Key Responsibilities:


* Maintain the kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, and sanitary manner.


* Prepare and cook a variety of foods in large quantities while ensuring meals are tasteful and appealing.


* Follow prepared menus and portion control guidelines.


* Accurately prepare special diets as needed.


* Record food temperatures for each meal.


* Prepare pureed foods as required.


* Work cooperatively and harmoniously with personnel across all departments.


* Ensure quaternary solution levels are maintained in sanitizer buckets.


* Assist in serving meals efficiently and courteously.


* Clean the cooking area, serving carts, and ensure all cleaning schedules are followed.


* Report resident care concerns and potential issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing.


* Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.


* Ensure the presentation of food is visually appealing for residents.


* Exhibit strong teamwork and willingness to work under supervision.


* Supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor.
