What will your job look like?

The Billing Specialist is responsible for submitting accurate and timely billing/invoicing and reports based on health plan requirements.

The Billing Specialist is also responsible for Accounts Receivable payment follow-up and appeals.

The Billing Specialist will also analyze and validate the data included in billing/invoicing and will research and escalate discrepancies identified.

Location: This role is a hybrid role if located within 40 miles of an MTM office location.

What you’ll do:


* Complete health plan billings based on contractual requirements


* Reconcile outstanding health plan aging balances


* Review and monitor reimbursements due from different health plans and determine appropriate collection methods


* Complete and submit custom reports requested by contracted health plans


* Compile monthly denial reports


* Compile proper paperwork and conduct appropriate research to appeal claim denials, including requests for refunds/credits when applicable


* Communicate effectively and professionally with external customers


* Always maintain confidentiality whether in reference to confidential information or as it relates to medical information for specific patients


* Adhere to all company policies and procedures


* Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:

Experience, Education & Certifications:


* High School diploma or GED


* Minimum 1 year experience in customer service


* Previous experience in healthcare billing/coding or claims processing

Skills:


* Must have effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills


* Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to prioritize work and meet established deadlines and goals


* Beginner to intermediate skills with Microsoft Excel, and Word, with the ability to import/export data to/from various data sources


* Ability to maintain high level of ethics and confidentiality


* Works well independently


* Sufficient time management


* Ability to adapt and learn on the fly given changes of course towards requests and research


* Dependable/reliable


* Ability to work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment


* Demonstrated familiarity with medical terminology and services


* Knowledge of contracts and the application of insurance contracts in the reimbursement process
