Koch Fertilizer Wever, LLC is looking for a Maintenance Technician skilled in welding, fabrication, and repair to enhance our facility's long-term reliability in Wever, Iowa.

This role is vital for maintaining the safety and efficiency of our piping systems and structures.

What You Will Do

Welding & Fabrication:



* Execute high-quality welding using SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and FCAW (flux-core arc welding) on piping systems and structural components.


* Read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and installation


* Construct and modify structural elements like pipe supports and platforms.


* Operate oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other metalworking tools safely and effectively.

Maintenance & Repair:



* Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency repairs on process piping and structural steel


* Assist in the installation and modification of piping systems per industry codes.


* Diagnose and repair weld defects, pipe leaks, and structural issues; support the maintenance of pumps, valves, and pressure vessels; conduct bolt-up, flange alignment, and hydrostatic testing.

Safety & Compliance:



* Champion safety by adhering to OSHA regulations and company policies; engage in permit-to-work processes, including confined space, hot work, and LOTO protocols.


* Participate in safety assessments (JSA/JHA) and proactively identify hazards.

Continuous Improvement & Team Contribution:



* Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement initiatives.


* Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, sharing knowledge, and mentoring team members in best practices.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)


* Three or more years of experience in industrial welding and metal fabrication.

What Will Put You Ahead


* Familiarity with reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.


* Experience with rigging, lifting, and material handling techniques for heavy industrial applications.



* Journeyman-level certification in welding or pipefitting.


* Welding experience in a chemical, refinery, or heavy industrial environment.


* Experience working with high-pressure piping, structural steel, and hazardous chemical systems.
