Temporary Park Ranger I

The Riverside County Human Resources' Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) is seeking a Temporary Park Ranger I to provide support in the Santa Ana River in Riverside.

Santa Ana River

This position will patrol the Santa Ana River area's beaches on foot or in a 4x4 vehicle, enforcing county ordinance by gaining willful compliance from patrons of the wildlife area.

The candidate will be required to repair fencing, post signs, pick up litter, remove graffiti, and clean up homeless encampments.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of common tools, equipment, and materials used in maintenance work; basic vehicle and equipment preventive maintenance techniques.

Know Word, Excel, and Field Maps (Collector) App.

Experience with ArcGIS or other mapping software.

Knowledge of County ordinances, as well as state and federal regulations.

Incumbent will be exposed to extreme hot, cold, and wet weather for long periods of time.

The position requires extensive hiking, prolonged kneeling/bending, ability to lift or carry 60 pounds or more, and move or manipulate objects/equipment.

Due to the area of work and where it is being conducted, will be potentially exposed to living and dead wild and domestic animals and noxious plants including: rattlesnakes, bees/wasps, mountain lions, dogs, poison oak, and stinging nettle.

Work Schedule: 5/40 - Friday - Tuesday
Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

• Participate in custodial duties and the maintenance and cleanup of park structures and grounds; work with park maintenance personnel on minor construction, maintenance, repair, and improvement of park structures, facilities, and grounds.

• Answer public inquiries and complaints concerning park operations and maintenance.

• Provide assistance in emergency situations; maintain fire prevention standards and practices as established by the State Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention and the United States Forest Service.
