IT Systems Administrator II

The Riverside University Health System Public Health has an opportunity for an IT Systems Administrator II (IT SA II) that will be assigned to the Moreno Valley location.

The IT SA II administer servers, software issues, resolve break / fix incidents and assist with application testing.

The IT SA II will plan and implement backup and recovery efforts, , including off-site disaster recovery.

The Department desires candidates with at least two to three years successful IT job-related experience and have at least two to three years of experience with the following : MS Azure, MS365, Vmware, Microsoft windows OS server administration and Microsoft Domain services (DHCP, AD, DNS)A.

The IT Systems Administrator II is the journey level classification in the IT Systems Administrator series and reports to a supervisory or manager level position.

Incumbents perform the full range of duties requiring a greater technical knowledge with little supervision or guidance.

The IT Systems Administrator II is distinguished from the IT Systems Administrator I in that the latter is the entry-level in the series.

This class is further distinguished from the IT Systems Administrator III in that the latter requires incumbents to either lead an IT staff or possess and use master-level technical and analytical skills on a regular and on-going basis.

• Plan and implement hardware installation and upgrades; maintain physical technical infrastructure, directories, and system documentation; plan and implement operating system and application upgrades.

• Monitor resource use, and tailor and tune to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

• Conduct analysis of network and system management, capacity planning, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.

• Develop utility programs and shell scripts (e.g., backup, security); evaluate software; assist with application testing.

• Develop system security and firewall requirements based on industry standards and management preferences; plan and implement systems backups, coordinating recoveries, including offsite disaster recovery.

• Research, evaluate, and test proposed products, product versions, and systems solutions; coordinate design, installation, and support activities with application vendors.

• Evaluate conformance of system security and database integration requirements with County standards.
