Scheduler/Scale Clerk

The Scheduler/Scale Clerk will be responsible for maintaining the daily blacktop schedule and stone schedule, ensuring effective communication between customers and appropriate internal personnel.

This role also includes conducting weekly inventory checks at multiple locations and performing weighmaster duties at the Como Park Aggregate location.

The hourly pay rate for this position starts at $20/hr, based on experience.

Scheduler / Scale Clerk - What Will You Do?


* Daily maintenance of the Stone schedule including keeping our Plant Demand scheduling program as up-to-date as possible throughout the day, as well as, all appropriate communication with Customers and appropriate Sales, QC and Plant Management personnel to gather any necessary details.


* The Scheduler will conduct a weekly in-person visual inspection of designated stone piles to estimate the approximate tonnage at multiple NESL locations.

Assistance and training will be provided for pile estimation.


* Standard weighmaster duties, including but not limited to, directing visitors/drivers and following safety protocol, operate scale & generate tickets, end of day reporting and deposits as needed, general customer service and plant communications.


* Work with Coworkers to schedule weighmaster coverage as needed.


* Participate in weekly scheduling meetings for each assigned area and forecasts required coverage.


* In addition to a standard schedule, the Schedule will work a rotating on-call schedule to provide evening and weekend coverage for all areas.


* May perform other duties as assigned.  

Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?


* Two (2) years of proven experience in transportation or customer service is preferred.

Dispatching or similar experience is preferred.


* High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of diploma.


* Understanding of transportation laws and DOT regulations, including hours of service and weight restrictions on state and federal highways. 


* Ability to read road maps, identify trucking routes, and working knowledge of assigned geographical service area.


* Knowledge of trucks accessories and usages, and application for each.


* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


* Proven ability to make quick decisions and problem solve based on factual information.


* Strong time management skills.


* Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and proven aptitude to learn industry related software.

Experience with transportation and order management software preferred.


* Ability to work in a fast-paced and periodically stressful environment with time-sensitive deadlines.

This requires flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
