Civil Engineer I
Job Summary
The Civil Engineer I position is responsible for applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks, exercises limited judgment on details of work and acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

Essential Functions
* Prepares drawings and visual aids using AutoCAD.
* Collect data and gather information.
* Assist with proposals to provide professional services.
* Prepare as-built record drawings.
* Prepare permit applications.
* Observe construction activities.
* Manage time wisely, and requests assistance when direction is needed.
* Receive close supervision on assignments.
* Receive guidance, when necessary, on unconventional or complex problems.
* Travel to and from work at remote project sites for extended durations.
* Other duties as assigned.

* Ability to gather and analyze data, reason logically and creatively.
* Ability to prioritize and organize, work well under stress, meet deadlines.
* Ability to be flexible and adapt to constant change.
* Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet deadlines.
* Skilled in interpersonal communication to assist staff and occasionally clients and contractors.
* Skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
* Ability to travel and perform field work in adverse arctic conditions.
* Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
* Skilled in facilitating public meetings (public speaking).
* Knowledge of civil construction techniques and sequencing.
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in engineering.
* Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam preferred.
* Valid driver's license.
Preferred Education and Experience
* Experience with hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS is preferred.
