Mechanical Engineer
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Engineer will be part of a team designing and developing sensors for pressure, temperature, and rheological applications, as well as provide design support for legacy products.
The Mechanical Engineer will also be responsible for design for manufacturability along with sourcing, evaluating and managing the materials required for New Product Introductions.
This role will therefore ensure the selection of high-quality materials that meet cost, performance, and compliance requirements.
The Mechanical Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain and quality control, to ensure that new product introduction is conducted in an efficient manner.
Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:
* Conceive, design, and develop new sensors and transducers
* Develop prototypes and conduct testing to ensure mechanical systems meet design specifications and performance standards.
* Research and select appropriate materials for new product designs.
* Ensure material cost-effectiveness and availability from suppliers.
* Ensure that design concepts and assemblies are designed for manufacturability
* Conduct material testing to ensure compliance with design specifications and performance requirements.
* Work with Marketing and Application Engineers to develop functional and technical specifications
* Complete Engineering Change Orders, including 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, SolidEdge), drawings.
Create and revise product BOMs, routings, operations
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
* 5-7 years industrial experience in a related industry such as sensing, polymers, plastics or injection molding
* 3-5 years experience with DFM in a related field
* Knowledge of materials science, including properties and applications of various materials including metals, polymers, composites
* Experience with test equipment/data acquisition systems a plus
* Experience in technical materials sourcing and procurement
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot material-related issues.
* Proficiency in using ERP systems and MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Travel Requirements
* Ability to travel up to 10 percent of the time
