Night Superintendent (Mesquite, TX) – Austin Bridge & Road

Austin Bridge & Road Austin Bridge & Road is seeking a Night Shift Superintendent for a large-scale project in Mesquite, TX.

This position involves providing daily supervision and coordination of civil and structural operations, including pavement markings, concrete barriers, MSE walls, bridge girders, and substructure/superstructure preparation or concrete placements, with a primary focus on achieving safety, quality, production, and schedule goals.

Success in this role requires critical thinking, effective decision-making, strong communication skills, adaptability, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities:


* Ensure jobsite safety by complying with company policies, OSHA standards, and E.E.O.

regulations, including conducting regular safety meetings.


* Guarantee high-quality workmanship through inspections of field construction work in progress and adherence to approved plans and specifications.


* Manage project estimating, start-up, and close-out activities, including punch lists.


* Oversee crews, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, including allocation of resources to foremen and coordination of a large onsite equipment fleet.


* Direct salary staff and develop subordinates, such as Assistant Superintendents and Field Engineers.


* Read and interpret owner’s drawings and specifications to ensure all staff and subcontractors meet job requirements.


* Develop and maintain project CPM schedules and “look-ahead” schedules while analyzing job cost reports to meet budget and schedule goals.


* Supervise self-performed labor, material, and equipment cost management to optimize efficiency and reduce expenses.


* Act as a liaison between owners, architects, and suppliers to maintain effective communication and collaboration.


* Monitor all aspects of cost and production, adjusting manpower or methods as needed.


* Coordinate and supervise the Field Office Manager to ensure accurate records and reporting.


* Perform inspections, allocate resources, and monitor the progress of equipment and materials.


* Conduct additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


* 10+ years of experience in large heavy civil projects, including TxDOT or highway construction.


* Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering is preferred.


* Experience with demolition, earthwork, concrete paving, and setting temporary concrete barriers is a plus.


* Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is an advantage.


* Strong commitment to jobsite safety with a proven record of demonstrating safe work practices.
