Licensed Vocational Nurse III Per Diem - Correctional Health Services

The Riverside University Health System - Correctional Health Services Department has an immediate openings for a Licensed Vocational Nurses to join our team.

We are seeking Licensed Vocational Nurses with a minimum of four years of experience in patient care within acute care clinic settings, ambulatory care or correctional health facilities.

Incumbents must posssess a current Vocational Nurse License with blood draw certified clearly indicated on the license issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA).

This job posting will be used to fill various positions within the Riverside County Detention Centers located in the cities of Riverside, Murrieta, Banning and Indio.

Duties will include:
Blood withdrawals, diabetic checks, wound care, medication administration, PPD reads, Covid testing and vaccinations and other treatments scheduled; As well as other duties assigned throughout the day.

Per Diem personnel are distinguished from regular employees in that they receive additional compensation in lieu of County fringe benefits and work assignments may be on a flexible work hour schedule.

Work Schedule:
12 hour shifts
Day or Night Shift -To be determined based on the department needs

http://www.ruhealth.org• Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Vocational Nursing Practice Act; prepare patients for physicians, registered nurses, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment; administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.

• Take temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings and care for wounds; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, respiratory care, and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears, and colposcopies.

• Perform venipuncture and injection of medications including biological immunizations for pediatrics and adults, in addition to the provision of Tuberculin skin tests, Coccidioidin skin tests, and Histoplasmin skin tests in the course of a tuberculosis control program.

• Perform documentation as required within the scope of the Vocational Nursing Practice Act and established rules of charting; chart treatments and medications and maintain pertinent medical records; collect data from patients to ensure schedulin...
