Staff Mechanical - Structural Engineer
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the architectural and engineering scope for facility design, ensuring alignment with DoD facility design and safety standards for complex manufacturing environments.
* Oversee the design, modification, and improvement of facility layouts, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with DOD facility design requirements.
* Support the transition of facility design through Issue for Construction, and construction kick off.
* Ensure that facility design decisions align with process design requirements, optimizing the integration of structural, mechanical, and process systems.
* Work closely with chemical and process design engineering teams to ensure that facility designs support process requirements and align with the overall project goals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all design and construction elements meet safety, quality, and performance standards.
* Review facility designs and engineering plans to ensure they meet project specifications, timelines, and cost objectives, while ensuring compliance with DoD standards and industry best practices.
* Manage the preparation of design documentation, including structural drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.
* Monitor project progress, addressing any scope, schedule, or quality issues, and ensuring that the facility design meets client and regulatory requirements.
* Provide technical leadership in the resolution of design issues, including troubleshooting and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
* Ensure the implementation of safety programs and standards for the facility design, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and regulations for structural and mechanical systems.
* Participate in design reviews and risk assessments to identify potential issues and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Due to the nature of work performed, candidates must be U.S.
citizens eligible for a Department of Defense Secret, or higher, level security clearance.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field, with a concentration in Structural Engineering and 5+ years of experience in facility design or structural engineering.
* US Citizenship with the ability to obtain clearance.
* Proven experience in managing the design and construction of complex facilities, with knowledge of DoD facility design standards and regulatory compliance.
* Strong background in structural and mechanical design, with hands-on experience in reviewing structural, architectural, MEP, and civil engineering designs.
* Familiarity with DoD and other government construction regulations, including safety standards, quality assurance, and environmental requirements.
