Project Engineer III
Overview
Responsible for development, design, analysis, implementation, and engineering project management to ensure complex heavy equipment engineering projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, development and testing of advanced mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and components.
* Oversee projects of various scale from conception to completion, ensuring they meet operational expectations, quality standards, timeline, and budget.
* Use company and customer standards, specifications, engineering methods and industry best practices to develop complex heavy equipment unit designs.
* Ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electrical systems, collaborating with customers, management, other engineers, and other company departments to achieve project requirements.
* Develop and modify large complex three-dimensional models and two-dimensional drawings.
* Evaluate Engineer Change Requests (ECRs) and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) in accordance with company standards.
* Engage with customers, contractors, and internal and external stakeholders for timely project execution.
* Develop and present project timelines, project updates, detailed technical reports, and project documentation.
* Lead engineering design reviews with all required internal and external stakeholders, review feedback and use judgement and best practices to implement design changes.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers, designers, and team members.
* Interface with shop staff to provide engineering support and timely resolutions to issues.
* Occasional travel to customer sites, vendor locations, and other company facilities.
Qualifications
* Advanced knowledge of CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoDesk Inventor preferred) and mechanical engineering principles.
* Advanced knowledge of engineering analysis including finite element analysis (FEA), and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
* Strong project management skills, including scheduling and resource allocation.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities to address and resolve engineering challenges.
* Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in all project aspects.
* Ability to work independently or in a team to achieve project goals.
* Must be self-motivated and have the ability make decisions to progress the task at hand with minimal supervision.
* Ability to work safely and follow all company processes and procedures.
* Ability to maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
* Master’s degree and/or Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
