Maintenance Assistant

Alaska West Express, Inc.

is searching for a motivated individual to assist our Fairbanks, AK maintenance department personnel in the completion of housekeeping, equipment washing and miscellaneous tasks while using tools and equipment in a responsible safe manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

* Attendance and timeliness are essential functions of this position.



* Keeps maintenance shop and site storage areas organized and clean.


* Washes trucks and trailers prior to maintenance being done.


* Assists with grounds maintenance as assigned throughout all seasons as directed by shop foreman.


* Remains flexible to respond to the changing needs of the organization and the maintenance department.


* Performs all duties and operate all company vehicles in safe and responsible manner.


* Performs other duties as assigned.


* Complies with all company safety policies, including use of protective equipment and Fit for Work.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with co-workers, supervisors, and managers, to understand procedures and warning signs and or markings in the English language, to respond to inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
