The Casthouse Manager is accountable for ensuring the achievement of the objectives of the Casthouse Area which contribute to the successful achievement of the operating plan of the Location, as well as defining the strategy for the area.

About the role: The location is divided into key operating areas distributed across the Smelter.

As a member of the Lead Team, the Casthouse Manager is accountable for ensuring the achievement of the objectives of the operations area which contribute to the successful achievement of the plant operating plan.

Core activities:


* Provide leadership and management to the Production and Process teams, fostering a continuous improvement mindset at all levels of the organization.


* Ensure all the needs relating to safety, health and environment, quality, production, maintenance, process and equipment development, cost control and people management and development are identified and properly and timely addressed.


* Accountable    for    establishing    and    achieving production, safety, environment, efficiency and cost targets.


* Ensures optimal functional department support toward the operations area by participating in the joint setting of functional department objectives.


* Active management of external recommendations across the plant on issues of training, recruiting, safety initiatives, industrial relations initiatives, organizational design, productivity initiatives and maintenance strategy.


* Identify the needs of the area on both sustaining and return seeking angles, proposing the required capital projects.


* Develops the long-term plan for the area.


* Responsible for the proper development and engagement of the area’s workforce, and the development of the required succession plans.


* Ensures that the organizational structure is relevant to the existing and future needs.


* Responsible for setting and achieving the department operating budget and responsible for setting and co-responsible for achieving operating area capital budget.


* Ensures that effective systems are in place to regularly review and improve operating practices, equipment and employee health and safety.
