SUMMARY:  

The Assistant Manager – Production provides direction and leadership to the wares processing team at the Boston Distribution Center (DC).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the essential duties required of the Assistant Manager of Wares:


* Provides direction and supervision to the wares processing staff.

Assures the team operates effectively and that all activities are coordinated and the team works collaboratively with other DC staff.


* Directs the processing and sorting of donated hard goods consistent with established retail standards.

For corporate donations this involves processing in accordance with the requirements of the contributing vendor.


* Manages the daily processing of hard goods for stores to meet target allocation levels.

Coordinates any additional allocations or responds to shortfalls as appropriate.


* Oversees the items that go to salvage or trash in order to assure that items are disposed of in a way that maximizes value and minimizes cost.


* Uses space and storage in the distribution center efficiently and operate with a clearly defined floor plan that is consistently monitored and reset to standards.


* Monitors inventory of supplies.


* Assures compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).


* Responsible for ensuring proper identification and removal of hazardous material to designated site.


* Trains, coaches and motivates staff.  Provides performance feedback to Director of Retail Production and Distribution.



* Collaborates with other departments.


* Assigns and maintains work schedules that ensures availability of staff to meet the business needs.

Provides coverage as needed.


* Attends training opportunities that enhance job related skills.


* Exercises discretion, confidentiality, and sensitivity.


* Performs duties in accordance with Goodwill’s standard policies and procedures.


* Other duties as assigned.

 

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY


* Employee requires little supervision.

Work is not regularly reviewed by a supervisor.



* Employee exercises discretion within area of responsibility.


* Employee advises others within the organization on matters within area of expertise.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


* Oversees the work of others within department.


* Provides staff performance feedback to supervisor.


* Recommends hires/terminations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:


* High School diploma, GED or equivalent.


* A minimum of three (3) years’ retail store, warehouse or production experience with at least two (2) years supervising staff.


* Ability to lead a team and promote a team environment working effectively and collaboratively to achieve goals.


* Ability to work with a diverse group of customers, staff, and with individuals with disabilities required.
