The early therapeutic area lead (eTAL) in nonclinical safety (NCS PSL) is a senior leadership role that primarily sits in the interface between PSTS and the therapeutic areas.

The NCS TAL may be a manager but is primarily seen as a scientific leader role with significant "matrix" management responsibility, serving as the coach and mentor for the NCS leads who work on the projects as assigned in the therapeutic area portfolio.

This role is assigned specifically to support the Immunology portfolio and has responsibility for projects that cover multiple modalities primarily from target selection to candidate nomination.

The eTAL has significant experience in drug development and regulatory sciences and has specialized knowledge and passion for the therapeutic area.

The eTAL faces TA leadership in TA forums and development stage gate forums, and, as needed to stand in as delegate for PSTS Global Head.

The eTAL is accountable for recommendations for diligence (including review and coaching of NCS diligence point person).

The primary role of the eTAL is to provide coaching and mentorship for NCS Leads working in their portfolio including mandatory advice and review of toxplans, protocols with the purpose of assuring scientific and regulatory questions are proactively addressed.

The eTAL is expected to maintain scientific depth and expert working knowledge of competitive intelligence and regulatory landscape in Immunology arena and to tracks milestones, issues, and attrition and should highlight strategic gaps...
