Austin Industries has an outstanding opportunity for an Insurance Counsel at our corporate headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
The Insurance Counsel is integral to advising the Corporate Insurance Services Department regarding insurance coverage for Austin’s operating companies.
This position primarily focuses on analyzing construction contracts, reviewing insurance policies and managing insurance claims.
Responsibilities:
* Analyze insurance requirements in construction pursuit documents and contracts to ensure ability to comply
* Evaluate whether insurance language in contracts adequately protects Austin’s interests
* Develop insurance risk mitigation strategies
* Evaluate appropriate insurance coverages and structure for construction projects
* Insurance policy analysis and interpretation
* Manage first and third-party insurance claims
* Point of contact across departments for insurance questions
* Develop and teach training classes on insurance and surety topics
* Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Knowledge of Property, Casualty and Specialty insurance coverages relating to the construction industry
* Occasional travel may be required to job sites and company offices
Requirements:
* J.D.
from an accredited law school
* Five years’ experience with Property and Casualty insurance or construction industries reviewing insurance policies and provisions in construction contracts
* Attention to detail with strong written and analytical skills
* Ability to adapt and adjust to multiple demands and competing priorities
* Proficiency in standard operations and communication software (Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
