Paralegal I/II - Eastern Region (Indio)

The Riverside County Office of The District Attorney is accepting applications for a Paralegal I/II position to support the Eastern Region (Indio).

This position will perform a broad range of paralegal duties for one or more attorneys engaged in civil, or criminal law.

This role will include drafting legal motions and documents, organizing trial notebooks and exhibits, and a detailed review of documents.

Perform legal research including statutory and case law.

Filing documents at all levels of California Courts, preparing/formatting trial and receiving incoming court documents, and disseminating them accordingly.

The incumbent is expected to perform basic and routine duties where the majority of the duties can be learned in a brief period of time, are clearly defined, and have established guidelines that require minimal interpretation.

Responsible for performing work that is of substantive legal impact under the direction and technical review of an attorney.

The Paralegal I is the first working level in the classification in the paralegal series, and typically reports to an attorney or supervising attorney and may receive lead oversight by a Senior Paralegal in collaboration with an attorney.

Advancement to the next level of Paralegal II is obtained by competitive selection through open recruitment.

The Paralegal II is the journey-level classification in the Paralegal series and will perform a full range of assigned paralegal duties requiring more complex legal knowledge and skill in support of complex civil and/or criminal law cases.

The most competitive candidates will have strong paralegal skills, organizing and reviewing legal documents, drafting briefs, and trial prep.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and independent.

Criminal law experience gained from working within a District Attorney's office is a plus.

The level at which the position will be filled is at the discretion of the department.

$27.87 - $37.70 Hourly
$4,831 - $6,533 Monthly
$57,974 - $78,407 Annually

Paralegal II

$29.49 - $40.74 Hourly
$5,112 - $7,061 Monthly
$61,348 - $84,740 Annually
