Sr. Designer
Provide drafting and design support by creating component models, assemblies, and drawings that exhibit the detail and method of assembly for a variety of mechanical and electrical devices. Maintain ERP and related data according to Bray standard practices. Check and/or approve work of team members for accuracy. Provide guidance to designers & drafters to ensure execution of Bray standard practices is being met.
Lead design and drafting activities. Provide continual guidance and support to designers & drafters. Check and/or approve work of team members for accuracy prior to release. Consult technical handbooks to ensure all work meets specified requirements.
Resolve design problems.
Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed. Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical and electrical devices using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software. Create and store drawings electronically.
Coordinate with and consult team members to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design problems. Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or assemblies. Layout and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, and systems.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent required. A two-year degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design or a related field is highly preferred.
* At least 7 years’ design/drafting experience.
* Hands-on experience or training with SolidWorks or similar CAD programs including the following techniques: Part Design, Assemblies, Detail / Assembly Drawings, and PDM File Management preferred.
* Valve design experience preferred
Core Competencies:
* Able to provide strong guidance to other designers and drafters.
* Working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 Drafting Standard.
* Ability to read, understand, and apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing strongly preferred.
* Strong mechanical skills pertaining to form, fit, and function of mechanical assemblies.
* Ability to collaborate with engineering personnel to obtain information needed to complete drawings within assigned timelines.
* Understanding of concepts of part design for manufacturing processes (especially molding, stamping, casting, machining and welding).
* Attention to detail, regulations, and safety procedures.
* Organization & time management skills.
* Proficient oral and written communication skills.
* Team work ethic and have the ability to work autonomously with initiative and urgency
