What's the job?  

As Sous Chef, you’ll be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the smooth operation of our Village Diner.

 Under the direction of the Head Chef you will be responsible for delivering a banquet style service, breakfast, lunch and dinner for up to 400 colleagues, as well as any staff functions 

A little taste of your day-to-day 


* Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be: 


* Assist the Head chef in conducting new kitchen team member orientation 


* Work closely with the stewarding team to ensure standards of cleanliness are maintained and manage the ordering for that department. 


* Provide a diverse offering of food to suit all tastes and nutritional needs 


* Ensure compliance with relevant hygiene laws, policies and procedures


* Ensure efficient and effective performance in ordering, keeping fair stock levels and minimizing waste 


* Make time to interact with colleagues to hear feedback and build relationships to understand how team members can increase colleague satisfaction. 


* Foster and lead a positive work environment for all employees 


* Update menus with seasonal changes and in conjunction with menu cycles. 

What we need from you 


* Completion of high school (year twelve) 


* Minimum 5 years’ related experience in Commercial Cookery, particularly in banqueting and bulk food production. 


* Experience in catering for up to 400 guests per service. 


* Be able to work in a multicultural environment. 


* Extensive recipe and ingredient knowledge to produce an array of dishes.
