Pay: $17/hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-4:00pm

OBJECTIVE:

The Program Support Asst.

I, Apartment (aka Apartment Instructor) is an active member of the Rehabilitation team to provide direction and support in the Apartment located in the Possibilities program. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate (GED).

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.  CPR/First Aid training or willingness to obtain training.  Must have a valid driving record and have the ability to pass internal driving class.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES

It is preferred that the incumbent have the ability to interact and work cooperatively and effectively.

The incumbent must be able to respond to special requests and be flexible in regard to job tasks and duties.  The incumbent must have good physical stamina/endurance to stand for long periods of time.  The incumbent must also demonstrate empathy and concern for individuals with developmental disabilities and have a passion for working to maximize their independence and personal growth.  The Apartment Instructor must also conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a professional appearance that enhances the firm’s reputation.  The incumbent must be able to work effectively as a team member with the rest of the Rehabilitation staff. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Daily Living instruction

The Apartment Instructor will be responsible to create, implement and instruct daily living skills in the Possibilities Apartment.

Activities include, but are not limited to, teaching safety skills in the kitchen, basic cooking and entertaining skills, sewing and learning how to do laundry.  The incumbent will assist all clients in their scheduled areas to participate in activities and help them achieve their personal goals.

Creating instructional learning areas will include working with assistive technology equipment to enhance independent learning.
