Dietary Director

Reports to: Executive Director

Full Wage Range: $24:00-$33.00

Leadership and Management


* Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise dietary staff, ensuring proper performance and adherence to policies and standards.


* Conduct regular staff meetings to provide updates, training, and address concerns.


* Develop and maintain a positive team culture, fostering collaboration and professionalism.

Menu Planning and Food Preparation


* Oversee menu planning to ensure variety, nutritional balance, and compliance with dietary restrictions and preferences.


* Ensure proper preparation, portioning, and presentation of meals.


* Coordinate with healthcare professionals to develop specialized meal plans for residents with specific dietary needs.

Compliance and Quality Control


* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including sanitation, food safety, and health codes.


* Conduct regular audits of kitchen operations, storage, and dining areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.


* Develop and implement policies and procedures for food service operations.

Budget and Inventory Management


* Develop and manage the dietary department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.


* Monitor inventory levels and coordinate the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment.


* Maintain accurate records of expenses, orders, and inventory to minimize waste and control costs.

Resident and Family Engagement


* Regularly interact with residents and their families to gather feedback on meal satisfaction and address concerns promptly.


* Work closely with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of services that enhance residents' overall well-being.

Qualifications

Education and Experience


* High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional coursework in nutrition or food service management (preferred).


* Minimum of 3 years of experience in dietary services


* Prior experience in staff supervision and operational management.

Skills and Abilities


* Strong leadership and organizational skills.


* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with residents, staff, and families.


* Knowledge of nutritional requirements for seniors and individuals with specific dietary needs.


* Proficiency in inventory management, budgeting, and record-keeping.


* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment


* Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.


* Exposure to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures
