Speech Languauge Pathologist

Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) assess and treat people with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.

They work with patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly.

Their responsibilities include:



* Evaluating and diagnosing

SLPs assess a patient's speech, language, and swallowing abilities.

They may also use specialized tests and measuring devices.


* Creating treatment plans

SLPs develop individualized treatment plans to address a patient's specific needs.

Treatment plans may include teaching patients how to improve their voice, make sounds, and maintain fluency.

They may also prescribe speech-generating devices or modify a patient's diet.


* Training and educating

SLPs provide training and education to patients, their families, and other professionals.

They may also participate in research and the development of new therapy and testing techniques.


* Working with other professionals

SLPs collaborate with doctors, audiologists, and other professionals
