JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs difficult technical work supervising water distribution or production staff, assigning work, assisting in maintaining water system, monitoring expenditures, maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Utility Supervisor.
Continuous supervision is exercised over assigned personnel.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Candidate must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade III Water Distribution or Grade III Water Treatment Certification or equal grade certification from another state at the time of hire.
ADEQ certification must be obtained through reciprocity at hire.
The selected candidate who does not possess the required certification/CDL will be considered a trainee at the time of hire.
The incumbent works outdoors and is exposed to extreme temperatures.
May require the use of a respirator.
May be subject to call back.
Primary assignment will be in water production.
The ideal candidate will possess considerable water system operations experience.
Have a strong work ethic and leadership skills.
They should demonstrate the skills necessary to write reports and employee evaluations.
Be able to effectively communicate with management, staff and the public.
Be able to organize and prioritize the activities of multiple work groups simultaneously and have an understanding of common safety practices and the strength to enforce that they are followed.
They will possess computer skills sufficient to performing work in programs for mapping, asset management, timekeeping and procurement.
Be dedicated to upholding the standards of State and Federally formed organizations regulating drinking water compliance laws.
