Lead Software Engineer

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Cloud Foundational Services (CFS a part of Infrastructure Platforms - IP) , you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver database related technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.

As a software engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based database solutions on AWS.

You will leverage your expertise in Java, Python, AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD techniques to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient systems.

Your deep understanding of computing will be essential in optimizing our infrastructure and processes.

Job responsibilities


* Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems


* Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others


* Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems


* Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies


* Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


* Design, develop, and maintain scalable database solutions on AWS.


* Utilize Python for automation, data processing, and application development.


* Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform to manage AWS resources.


* Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth deployment processes.


* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new features.


* Optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills



* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience


* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.


* Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AWS services (e.g., RDS, Lambda, S3, SQS, SNS, KMS, Step Functions, ECS, EKS ).


* Expertise in Terraform for infrastructure as code.


* Solid understanding of CI/CD practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Spinnaker, AWS CodeDeploy).


* Observability with Cloudwatch / Grafana / Splunk / Datadog


* Good knowledge of computing concepts, data structures, and algorithms.


* Experience with database design, optimization, and management.


* Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, API design, application development, software testing, security and operational resiliency.
