Park Ranger Supervisor-Parks

ABOUT THE POSITION

Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District is seeking a Park Ranger Supervisor to support the Idyllwild Regional Park.

The Park Ranger Supervisor will play a crucial role in overseeing the operations and management of Idyllwild Regional Park and surrounding Mountain Center facilities including I dyllwild Nature Center, Lawler Lodge, McCall Memorial Equestrian and Hurkey Creak Park.

The Park Ranger Supervisor will supervise 10-15 Park Rangers, staff and volunteers, monitor and patrol the park and collaborate with public agencies and service providers to implement effective solutions in maintaining and improving habitat and open-space reserves.

The Park Ranger Supervisor will perform Park Ranger duties as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will be experienced in a park or open space environment open to the public, motivated, and eager to lead a trailblazing team.

Competitive candidates will possess a combination of skills and relevant experience:


* Prior lead or supervisory experience


* Experience evaluating the work of staff and writing evaluations.


* Ability to manage multiple projects.


* Experience with budget tracking.


* A background in policy and procedure interpretation.


* Experience in building and grounds maintenance.


* Basic knowledge of park operations.

The Park Ranger Supervisor - Parks is the supervisory level classification in the Park Ranger series and reports to the Natural Resources Manager.

Work Schedule:
Tuesday-Saturday: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Weekends, holidays and evenings may be required based on departmental need

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Plan, schedule, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of staff engaged in the operations of a County park area; train Park Rangers in outdoor education and interpretive programs, first aid techniques and departmental practices, policies, and procedures.

• Interpret and explain park policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances; oversee the registration of park visitors, collection of fees, issuance of camping permits, and assignment of the general public to various camping areas within the parks.

• Interpret the natural and historical features of the park area to visitors.
