TEMPORARY SENIOR COMMUNITY PROGRAM SPECIALIST

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) seeks to fill a Temporary Senior Community Program Specialist position to provide support to Housing an Workforce Solutions.

This is a full-time, temporary position located in Riverside, California.

Some weekend / evening hours may be required.

Under general supervision, develops and implements a complex public program and awareness plan covering community issues and the missions, services and activities of the department; develops and implements an action plan to empower individuals to improve their quality of life and/or become self-sufficient; performs other related duties as required.

The Senior Community Program Specialist is the supervisory level classification in the Community Program Specialist series and reports to an appropriate manager level position.

The Senior Community Program Specialist differs from the Community Program Specialist II in that the former has additional responsibility for supervising staff, performing the difficult and complex assignments, overseeing large community programs, and maintaining an effective public awareness plan for the department.

The ideal candidate will have program coordinating experience and will excel as an engagement officer for volunteers, including being readily available, coordinating schedules and trainings, and assisting them with the onboarding process.

In addition, preferred experience will include creating, organizing, and delivering large-scale presentations.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Prepare complex budgets and perform cost/benefit analysis of specific programs; review financial data on an on-going basis to ensure conformance with established guidelines.

• Manage program activities with related budgets to ensure program/ contract compliance of goals and objectives; implement corrective measures as required.

• Supervise, direct, train, and evaluate staff.

• Develop and review more complex departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal legislation, regulations and directives.

• Compose complex correspondence, reports and directives for use by the Director and designated staff members in public hearings and meetings with state officials.

• Develop, coordinate, implement, and maintain a long range public education and awareness plan encompassing issues and the missions of the department; encourage members of the communities to develop skills needed to improve their quality of life and/or become self-sufficient and involved.
