Land Development Inspector, Senior

Salary range: $48,381 - $77,894

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Essential Functions: 

The following duties are normal for this position.

Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers; confers with supervisor to obtain direction regarding work assignments and priorities; organizes tasks in order to complete assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with co-workers; assists with complex/problem situations; provides technical expertise; assists with training and instructing co-workers regarding operational procedures and proper use of equipment; and assists with supervision of co-workers by reporting employee problems and providing input on disciplinary action and employee performance evaluations. 

Reviews and processes land development plans; performs inspection of detailed drawings, design specifications, and construction plans; ensures compliance with environmental control, storm water mitigation and pollution prevention code requirements, specifications, guidelines, and processes; and oversees quality control of the permitting process. 

Provides customer service; responds to citizen's concerns; resolves customer service desk inquiries and development issues; and supervises and advises staff on plan intake and permitting procedures. 

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, including design specifications, construction plans and code requirements; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including permit applications, design standards, intergovernmental agreements, and customer inquiries; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records. 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Associate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required; two years of experience in civil engineering, site development or construction management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. 

Specific License or Certification Required:  Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Must possess and maintain Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1 B Inspector Certification.
