Temporary IT User Support Technician II

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Human Resources Temporary Assignment Program (TAP) is seeking candidates for multiple Temporary IT User Support Technician II to support the Information Technology (RCIT) Department - Digital Inclusion Program in Riverside County.

Project Description:

Mobile Tech Hub Van services include acting as a mobile Wi-Fi hot spot, providing digital literacy training to community groups and individuals in need, providing mobile IT support, and digital navigation to help residents connect with online public services.

These services may also include assistance with navigating government websites or setting up an email account, among other activities.

The Mobile Tech Hub Vans are expected to serve an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 residents each year.

This 'meets people where they are' by bringing access to the internet, computers, and skills to navigate online services to Riverside County residents, as well as providing support in signing up for low-cost internet plans, connecting to social service programs, and more.

The ideal candidates will be on a Mobile Tech Hub Van and will work alongside the Digital Navigators and provide digital inclusion services to residents.

The user technicians will be responsible for driving the vans, in addition to other responsibilities described below:


* Ability to travel for multiple hours per day in a van across Riverside County.

(Must have valid California Driver's License)


* Ability to train or coach others in the use of standard office software products, safe use of the internet, how to access government services online, and use collaboration tools such as Zoom, Teams and Meet.


* Ability to provide full time services (estimated 40 hours per week, 50 weeks of the year excluding public holidays).

Please note that schedule may not be typical Monday through Friday due to community needs, and some services may need to be provided on the weekend or after the traditional workday (after 5 PM).


* Capacity to lift 50 pounds or more to load and unload digital navigation equipment and set up next to the Mobile Tech Hub Van.


* Ability to spend extended periods of time outside in various weather conditions.


* Ability to maintain Mobile Tech Hub Van and equipment (including cleaning, maintenance, general upkeep).


* Demonstrated fluency in English and Spanish is a bonus.

Candidates need to be comfortable working independently, patient, skilled communicator capable of teaching a class and working one on one with the public to provide digital literacy training and education.

Service Location:
Services will be rendered in Riverside County, California in conjunction with its Mobile Tech Hub Vans.

Prior service area will be western and central parts of the county and may occasionally require travel to desert communities including Blythe.

Duration of TAP Assignment:This role is a Temporary Assignment Program position expected to last for up to 24 months.
