Intern

DESCRIPTION


* Work under the supervision of a field inspector, staff engineer or project manager.


* Review plans and specifications associated with active airport construction sites.


* Notify project inspector or project engineer of apparent constructability issues


* Aid in overseeing daily operations of contractor or subcontractor personnel to ensure that work is being performed in accordance with plans and specifications.


* Prepare daily construction reports to include engineering related calculations, work performed and photo documentation


* Make measurements and observations of work being performed to ensure accurate quantities tracking for completed work.


* Monitor material testing needs, and/or take material tests associated with work being performed including testing concrete for yield, slump, and air content, or testing asphalt, soils or aggregates for moisture and density.


* Assist with data collection, input, verification, and manipulation.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS / PREFERENCES


* Enrolled in pursuit of a bachelor's or associate degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.


* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conceptual thinking skills.


* Excellent English language skills, written and verbal, are essential to success in this role.


* Minimum of secondary completed coursework in students' field of study.


* Ability to prepare and maintain records, prepare reports, documents and correspondence related to the work.


* Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and PDF software (BlueBeam)


* Ability to perform duties in the field throughout summer construction season, work some extended/off shifts and to lift up to 50 pounds


* Ability to pass government background check and possession of valid Driver's License

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $22.00- $24.00 per hour.

This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
