Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health (BH) clinician provides comprehensive behavioral health services to care for patients with medical and behavioral issues in the primary care environment.

The BH clinician is integrated directly into the clinical environment and provides direct care and coordination of services in tandem with his/her primary care and/or emergency department colleagues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


* The provision of direct patient care, including assessment, short term cognitive behavioral therapy, and long term psychotherapy, as appropriate to the clinical environment.


* Clinical care management and oversight for special high-risk populations, as specified by the primary care department within which the BH clinician is integrated.

This includes coordination of services with outside behavioral health providers when necessary and periodic outreach to engage patients in care.


* General practice support, including emergency response to attend to patients in crisis, clinical consultation, and in-basket management, and support for community education efforts.

Qualifications and Requirements:


* Graduate from an accredited Masters in Psychology (MA), Masters in Education (Counseling-M.Ed.), or MSW program.


* Current Massachusetts license (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LICSW, Licensed Psychologist) or license eligibility.


* Minimum of 2 years relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in a community health, mental health or hospital setting.


* Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and mental health conditions.


* Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions.


* Comfortable with the pace of primary care and emergency care, within with an interdisciplinary team.
