How You Will Make an Impact?
The Quality Engineer will lead, identify, and implement the Morgan quality system at the factory and corporate level using lean techniques for quality improvement.
The role will identify best practices, processes, and standard work for the integration into Morgan's quality / manufacturing strategy to ensure consistent high-quality results.
The Nuts and Bolts
For this role the individual is responsible and accountable to make sure that Morgan's cargo meets or exceeds all our internal and customer quality requirements.
* Work with customers to determine expectations to assist in execution of complex and/or high quantity orders
* Communicate and implement Morgan's lean foundational strategies (engage the work force, straight through flow, single piece flow, cycle time variation reduction tools/strategies)
* Ensure the quality standard of Morgan in raw material and products produced
* Responsible for the formulation of the testing procedures for quality checks
* Monitor and mentor quality team members
* Assist plants in problem solving warranty claims
* Collect data, analyze, and report on performance of quality systems at factory level.
Record quality test results and present to leadership
* Develop/revise Quality Standards and standard work
* Conduct internal audits and initiate corrective actions
* Visit Morgan plants to ensure consistency of results for multiple builds
* Implement preventive measure to mitigate risk of defects
* Communicate results of customer audits and internal audits to Morgan stakeholders
* Test pilot new Quality Standards at different plants to ensure consistency
* Conduct problem solving events at different Morgan plants
* Deliver training as needed to the shop floor on quality practices and standards
* Other duties as assigned
Required Credentials
* Bachelor's Degree preferred (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering; Weld Engineering is a plus)
* Minimum 5 years quality engineering experience
* 1-2 years' experience leading teams
* Ability to read blueprints and/ or engineering drawings, tape measure, and other quality measuring equipment and tools
* Ability to plan, organize, communicate, and motivate team members
* Exceptional problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detailed work
* Proactive communication with excellent interpersonal, and writing skills
* Occasional travel to other Morgan sites for training or Kaizen events
* Lean manufacturing experience
Preferred Credentials
* Discrete manufacturing or truck body manufacturing experience a plus

* Working in an office environment in a seated position a minimum of eight hours per day is required.
