Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC - Preoperative Care

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside University Health System-Medical Center is currently seeking a Registered Nurse III MC/CHC for their Preoperative Care department.

The incumbent will be responsible for preop/postop care and will float within the Perioperative Department (Preop, Postop care) as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess at least two (2) years of preop; (Phase I and Phase II) and postop care experience.

Bilingual preferred but not required.

Required License and Certifications:


* A current and valid licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of California.


* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association.


* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association.


* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification issued by the American Heart Association.


* NIH Stroke Scale Certification.

Work Schedule:
5/40 - Monday to Friday
Hours: 10:00 am - 6:30 pm

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The essential duties of this position includes, but are not limited to, the following:



* Assesses patient on admission to SDS & reassesses per unit standards to evaluate the care of the patient before and after surgery.


* Re-assesses patient for safety issues throughout perioperative period.


* Utilizes the nursing process to provide quality patient care according to established standards of care which includes planning, implementing, evaluating and adjusting plan of care and discharge planning based on expected patient outcomes.


* Follow Rights of Medication Administration and assesses/document effectiveness/effects of medication and treatment.


* Checking order, pulling medications from correct patients, label medications, wasting medications as required.


* Follow Policy and procedure on Medication Administration including BCMA (Scanning).


* Documentation clearly reflects patient care in the patient record according to established standards of nursing care.


* Document accurately, timely, and appropriate manner.


* Documentation of pain assessment matches appropriate pain intervention.


* Collaborates and works cooperatively with physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team in formal and informal teaching of patients and/or family about his or her disease process and wellness promotion plan and discharge planning.


* Adheres organization policy, procedures and ASPAN standards.


* Able to think critically when patient condition changes & make care modifications appropriately.


* Can competently care for a post-surgical patient.


* Assess patient for readiness for discharge using critical thinking skills and guidelines for discharge.


* Perform Phase II recovery and Discharge Home.
