DA Public Safety Dispatcher

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside County District Attorney's Office is accepting applications for a District Attorney Public Safety Dispatcher position; the incumbent will support the Administrative Services Office of the District Attorney's Office by performing dispatching duties that include: operating various communication equipment to monitor and coordinate transmissions among investigators, investigative technicians, forensic technicians, and other support staff in the field.

Highly desired candidates will possess law enforcement/emergency dispatch experience.

The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, working weekends or holidays depending on assignments.

Additionally, work schedules is a 4/10 with a flexible start time may be available post-training period based on department needs.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Operate a variety of communications equipment including radio systems, various telephone systems, recording equipment, and computer systems in accordance with Federal Communications Commission regulations, department policy and standard operating procedures.

• Send and receive teletype printouts; operate radio, mobile telephone and paging equipment; maintain continuous contact with investigative personnel in the field in order to monitor location and exchange of information.

• Search local, state and national criminal justice databases and abstracts information pertaining to warrants, driver history, vehicles, firearms, and miscellaneous property.

• Monitor and maintain communication with field surveillance units in order to pursue appropriate courses of action in the event of an emergency; maintain radio contact with investigators on potentially dangerous assignments and notify supervisor if unable to make contact after a period of time set by the investigator; request backup from law enforcement if necessary.

• Monitor security alarms located in assigned county facilities; issue and maintain law enforcement equipment used by investigative personnel.

• Assist in the on-the-job training of new employees learning the techniques and procedures of dispatching, operating radio equipment and operating CAD equipment.
