Position Summary:
Provides excellent customer service to patients, health center staff and outside agencies.
Provides quality support and care to patients by working as a multidisciplinary care team member across the health center.
The MA II exemplifies all the qualities of a medical assistant, as well as shows leadership skills, initiative, and a drive to improve the role of the medical assistant.
The MA II will work cooperatively with departmental leadership to help facilitate new initiatives and goals for the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Vital signs
* Pulse oximetry
* Use of 02 equipment
* Obtaining EKG’s
* Laboratory studies such as glucometer, urine dip stick urinalysis and others as requested
* Cleans and wraps instruments for sterilization
* Follows procedure for operation of autoclave and properly documents each load
* Responsible for facilitating effective team and patient communication throughout the visit
* Manages efficient patient flow per departmental requirements and supports providers and team in overall coordination and delivery of care. Actively participates in patient visits per departmental protocol including but not limited to: rooming patients, obtaining chief complaint, addressing BPAs, and obtaining pertinent history.
* All documentation should be complete and done in an efficient and timely manner. Proficient in the use of the electronic medical record (Epic) as it pertains to department-based workflows and guidelines
* Interacts with patients and other staff in a professional and respectful manner, which reflects the needs and concerns of patients and staff. Consistently provides excellent customer service and makes patients feel welcome.
