Molding Simulation Supervisor

Your Job

As a Mold CAE Supervisor, you will lead the Mold CAE team in applying manufacturing expertise to drive design for manufacturability (DFM), developing high-performing injection molds, and enhancing the efficiency of molding production operations.

You will manage priorities to ensure adherence to project timelines.

Key responsibilities include fostering a contribution-motivated team environment, ensuring high-quality project execution, and driving continuous capability development within the team.

Our Team

Based in Rochester Hills, MI, you will lead the North America Mold CAE team within the Transportation Innovation Solutions Division (TISD).

The team provides molding simulation services to global TISD functions.

What You Will Do

* Leadership and Project Management: Exhibit leadership and foresight to plan and delegate projects effectively, ensuring timely completion.

* Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance to team members to solve challenging molding and mold simulation problems.

* Team Development: Foster team growth by helping members achieve goals/objectives, assisting with career development, and maintaining trust and confidentiality.

* Expert Guidance: Deliver expert advice on plastic molding behaviors to enhance product manufacturability, mold performance, and molding production efficiency for cross-functional product development teams.

* DFM Insights: Engage with Product Design Engineers during preliminary design phases and use molding simulation to offer DFM insights, addressing manufacturability issues and optimizing product manufacturability before OK-to-Tool.

* Tooling Strategy: Use molding simulation and partner with mold tooling engineers to design and validate tooling strategies, optimizing runner/gate/cooling designs, and refining mold tooling plans.

* Process Optimization: Collaborate with process engineers to virtually optimize molding process parameters.

* Production Efficiency: Leverage molding simulation tools to enhance production operational efficiency, targeting cycle time reduction, material usage minimization, defect reduction, and decrease in preventative maintenance frequency.

* Knowledge retaining: Collect and evaluate data on molding behavior and part performance for predicted versus actual comparison studies.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Polymer Engineering.

* Experience in a leadership role within engineering fields.

* Proven expertise in creating molding simulation models, specifically for connector products, using software like Moldflow, Moldex3D, HyperMesh, and CAD systems like NX.

* Proficiency in conducting Flow, Pack, Cool, and Warp analyses with simulation software such as Moldex3D or Moldflow.

* Up to 10% travel requirement (domestic and international).

What Will Put You Ahead
