HR Assistant

Heluna Health is a national nonprofit leader in providing program and support services to optimize population health.

In any given year, our organization either directly implements or provides administrative support for approximately 400 public health and social service initiatives across a broad spectrum of population health domains.

Heluna Health is an innovator of direct service programs, including the largest nonprofit network of WIC centers in the nation (the USDA funded Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children), a community-based, nationally accredited dietetic internship program, violence prevention initiatives, and a nationally recognized early literacy program that has been shown to reduce school readiness disparities for low-income kids.

Heluna Health offers a full range of program development, personnel, financial, and grant management solutions to researchers, universities, consortia, government agencies, community organizations, and population health practitioners in order to help more people live healthy and productive lives.

SUMMARY
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support in the HR Department.

Salary Range: $22.68 to $26.21 per hour

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

HR Duties
• Creates new employee personnel files.
• Maintains copies of documents for new hire orientation packets and supervisor handbooks.
• Completes employment verifications and background checks.
• Conducts filing for the HR department.
• Responds promptly to requests for service and assistance.
• Mails supplies of new hire packets and benefits packets to programs as needed.
• Responsible for I-9 filing and record keeping.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Special projects as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

• One to three years of experience providing clerical/administrative support – data entry, filing, faxing, etc., preferably in an HR Department
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
• HS Diploma required; some college preferred.

Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Must have the ability to assume initiative, develop and maintain effective working professional relationships.

Good organizational skills, verbal and written skills are imperative.

Demonstrated ability to use discretion and judgement in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
