The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is seeking applicants for the Telephone Report Unit Officer I or II positions to support their office located inRiverside.

The incumbent will be responsible for receiving telephone calls from the public: who are requesting law enforcement assistance for non-emergency situations; disseminating facts as necessary by entering information into appropriate law enforcement systems; writing reports on calls received; and performing related duties as required.

The Telephone Report Unit (TRU) of the Sheriff's Office handles non-critical calls for services by phone, which reduces the workload, response time, and the number of pending calls for patrol operations.

The TRU positions are differentiated from the Public Safety Communications Officer in that employees assigned to TRU take non-emergency calls and only inadvertently take emergency calls.

The Telephone Report Unit Officer II is the journey level class, and in addition to performing the full scope of duties, may also assist in training incumbents of the Trainee level in TRU procedures.

Competitive applicants will have work experience that demonstrates strong customer service skills, in person or telephone, or in call center experience.

Knowledge of CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) is highly desirable, but not required.
