Safety & Health Specialist

As a Safety and Health Specialist you’ll be a champion of the BWO core values and its safety culture. You’ll join a high performing safety team where you’ll work on developing, revising, implementing, providing oversight and training of health and safety programs. You’ll spend time out in the plant building relationships with a variety of employees from plant operators and craft workers to engineers and business professionals. As you build these relationships, you’ll be able to more effectively address safety issues and concerns.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Provides field health and safety support to refinery operations, maintenance, and project personnel
* Improves health and safety compliance, risk identification and prioritization across the facility
* Conducts regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
* Issues EH&S Work Permits outside operating units
* Assists in the management of BWO’s LMS and MOC systems
* Helps in the development/revision of policies, procedures, and training modules
* Supports/participates in the training of New Hires/Contractors/Carriers
* Monitors and reports on health and safety performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
* Audits health and safety programs
* Guides the organization in meeting or exceeding internal and/or external regulatory requirements
* Participates as a member of the Emergency Response Team
* Contributes in Process Safety programs such as: Process Hazard Analysis (PHAs), Employee/Contractor Training, Incident Investigations, Permits, Management of Change (MOC), etc.
Qualifications
* 5-10 Years experience working as a safety professional.
Required
* At least 3-5 years of work experience as a safety professional in the oil and gas industry.
Preferred
* Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health or related field.
Preferred
* BCSP certification (CSP, ASP, OHST).
Preferred
* Knowledge of OSHA standards
