Orthotics Resident

Work Schedule :

100 % FTE, 40 hours/week.

8-hour day shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM .

Weekend on-call rotation required.

Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

We are seeking an Orthotics/Prosthetics Resident to:


* Provide orthotic and/or prosthetic treatment to patients including the evaluation, design, fabrication, fitting and modification.


* Assist in treating injuries, diseases, amputations, and defects that impair patient's nervous or musculoskeletal systems using orthoses and protheses.


* Coordinate fabrication activities and follow up care and assist in scheduling.

Education :

Minimum - Graduate from an accredited Orthotics and Prosthetics Practitioner program.

Work Experience :

Preferred - Experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics Lab and Orthotics and Prosthetics patient care.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities :


* Knowledge of orthotic and prosthetic devices and their usage.


* Knowledge of disabilities and diseases related to orthotics and prosthetics.


* Skill in evaluating patient's orthotic and prosthetic needs in ages neonatal to geriatric.


* Skill in casting techniques and model modification.


* Skill in fabrication of custom orthoses and/or prostheses including vacuum-forming, joint contouring, power tool usage etc.


* Communication skills (verbal and written) with patients and healthcare workers.


* Ability to speak to groups about orthotics and prosthetics.


* Ability to organize a large patient care load.


* Tolerance to an acute care setting.


* Tolerance to a machine shop setting.
