Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC - Patient Accounting/Billing

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Patient Accounting/Billing Unit, servicing the Riverside University Health System's Medical Center, seeks a Registered Nurse III - MC/CHC to join our team in Riverside.

This position will be responsible for reviewing patient charts to identify potential billing opportunities, auditing charges, and managing Discharged, Not Billed (DNB) work queues to complete accounts.

Additionally, the role involves collaborating with department leaders to resolve charging-related questions and coordinating with the Loma Linda EPIC team to create new charge codes as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:


* Valid California RN license.


* Three years of full-time acute care or community health nursing experience with references and evaluations (A Bachelor's degree in nursing or a national nursing certification can substitute for one year, and a Master's degree in nursing can substitute for two years).

Desired Qualifications:


* Proficiency in EPIC systems.


* Knowledge of charging and coding processes.


* Advanced skills in Excel.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Within the full scope of the Nurse Practice Act, assess, plan, organize, and provide nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with physician instructions; make preliminary observations of, and prepare patients for, medical treatment.
• Assist physicians in administering treatments and in performing medical examinations, diagnostic tests, and surgical operations.
• As directed, administer or dispense prescribed treatment and medications to patients; chart treatment and dispensing to patients, and record and report significant changes in condition and general progress of patient.
• Counsel and advise patients, families and significant others regarding special medical problems and/or proper healthcare methods.
• Prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; instruct patients in carrying out physicians' orders; may transcribe physicians' orders to working records.
• May provide orientation and training to new staff, residents, medical students, ROP and nursing students.
• May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
• Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities; identify staff training needs.
• May triage patients by reviewing admissions charts and merging patients into the clinic flow at the appropriate time and place.
• May testify in court as to the client's mental and physical condition; may recommend initiatingconservatorshipinvestigations when assigned to the mental health setting.
• May coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third-party payors to maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
