Licensed Vocational Nurse II - Behavioral Health MHSA Banning Clinic

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Riverside University Health System - Behavioral Health Department is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse to join the MHSA Banning Clinic.

The Children's Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic provides services for children, adolescents, and older adults including crisis intervention, assessment, medication services, case management, and dual diagnosis services.

The department is seeking an Licensed Vocational Nurse who has prior working experience with consumers from the foster care system.

Candidates must have the ability to assist children, particularly those who have been victims of abuse and may have mental health challenges.

Possess a demeanor and approach that is compassionate and suitable for working with vulnerable children.

Be willing to work in a team-oriented environment that emphasizes collaboration and achieving team goals.

Additionally, candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are highly desirable.

Job Responsibilities:


* Assist with scheduling and coordinating appointments for children.


* Communicate with the Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) and other providers as needed.


* Take and record patient vitals accurately.


* Administer immunizations and vaccinations, ensuring procedure and patient care.


* Conduct home or group home visits as needed.


* Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice.

Work Schedule:
4/10 - Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday
Hours: 7:00 am to 5:30 pm

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Provide nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepare patients for physicians, registered nurse, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, and care for patients during treatment; administer medications using subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or oral methods.

• Take temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; apply and change dressings and cares for wounds; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assist physicians, registered nurses, and mid-level providers in performing examinations, tests, respiratory care and other treatments including minor surgical procedures, PAP smears and colposcopies.

• Perform venipuncture, injections of medications including biological immunizations for pediatrics and adults, including the provision of Tuberculin skin tests, Coccidioidin skin tests, and Histoplasmin skin tests in the course of a tuberculosis control program.

• Perform documentation as required within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing, and established rules of charting; chart treatments and medications and maintain pertinent medical records; collect data from patients to ensure scheduling with appropriate services; maintain clinical records, reports, and charge tickets; review charts to determine the type of treatment the pat...
