Community Program Specialist I

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Housing and Workforce Solutions (HWS) Department is seeking to fill multiple Community Program Specialist I, positions for their Community Action Partnership (CAP) Division located in Riverside, CA.

Some positions may travel throughout the County of Riverside.
At this time the position will be filling two subdivision units that will consist of the following information below.

Qualified applicants may be considered for future vacancies throughout the department.

Position 1:As a Community Program Specialist l, you'll work under general supervision to design and execute public programs and awareness initiatives that address community concerns and promote the department's mission, services, and activities.

This role also includes developing and implementing action plans to empower individuals to improve their quality of life and achieve self-sufficiency.

Additional related responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Position 2:
This position entails leading a team by providing direction, training, and coordination of their work.

Responsibilities include resolving customer conflicts or inquiries, distributing daily intake applicants among the team, managing reports, and participating in the delivery of basic program assistance.

The programs covered include Utility Assistance, Mediation, Savings for Success, Financial Wellness Network, VITA, and Cool and Warm Centers.
Candidates who are Bilingual in Spanish are highly encouraged to apply.

The most competitive candidates will have strong communication skills, customer service, and have experience handling conflicts, public speaking, and community outreach.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and perform cost/benefit analysis of specific programs; review financial data on an on-going basis to ensure conformance with established guidelines.

• May recruit, monitor, evaluate, and manage various program activities with related budgets to ensure program/contract compliance of goals and objectives; implement corrective measures as required.

• May direct, train, assign, and evaluate subordinate clerical and technical personnel in the performance of routine tasks.

• May develop and review departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal legislation, regulations and directives.

• May compose selected correspondence, reports and directives for use in public hearings and meetings with state officials.
