Nutritionist - Office On Aging

ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside's Office On Aging, Nutrition and Community Engagement division seeks a Registered Dietitian to join the team.



*This position will require travel throughout the County of Riverside including its Desert locations.

As a Nutritionist this position will be responsible for participating in long and short range program planning including development of programs and services based on assessments of communities and targeting of older adult populations for their needs and resources, participate in long.

They will identify services which require a nutrition component so it can be integrated into the agency's overall health plan.

They will serve as a resource regarding food nutrition and other related programs in the community as well as providing nutrition education and individual counseling to residents and their family regarding proper nutrition, food preparation and older adult diet needs, assist in outreach regarding nutritional benefits and program activities, review direct and evaluate older adult care plans to ensure appropriate nutritional care and create classes specialized in disease management and prevention.

Lastly, The candidate will select and/or develop, evaluate and update nutrition education materials used in the agency's programs, perform facility monitoring for senior nutritional vendors count wide, and review vendor nutrition education plans, menus and approve them.

The most competitive candidates will have experience as a team lead, a registered dietician, performing presentations and public speaking, the creation of presentations and working with contractors performing audits and/or reviews.

Bilingual Spanish speaking is preferred but not required.

Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a dietitian as issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Implements, coordinates, promotes, and evaluates the nutrition component of specialized community and public health programs and projects.

• Develops and implements basic programs of instruction in diet therapy, nutrition, and diet counseling techniques for program and project staff; develops needed nutrition education materials.

• Teaches and counsels people of various age groups to select and/or prepare and use the foods that will best nourish their bodies, taking into consideration physical, financial, social, and emotional needs, as well as personal preferences and cultural patterns.

• Performs nutritional assessments on individuals prior to enrollment in programs; determines, through application of various published standards, whether individuals are at nutritional risk.

• Gives direct nutritional and dietetic consultation to individuals with special nutritional needs; plans and reviews menus for nutrition sites where meals are prepared and served for program participants.
