Speech Therapist - Artesia Palms Care Center

* Compassionately assess, diagnoses and treats speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders


* Continually reviews treatment results and adjusts treatment programs to ensure optimal results for patients/residents


* Organizes, updates and concisely documents patient charts, daily progress notes, summaries, monthly reports and other required paperwork as needed


* Supports and instructs patient/family in techniques, adapting behaviors for better communication outcomes


* Follows all facility safety and other policies keeping updated on regulations governing the industry and profession


* Participates in inter-departmental meetings and facility operations


* Communicates patient status and needs to those involved with care maintaining confidentially when required in accordance with HIPAA


* Develops plans and provides treatments consistent with benefit and reimbursement levels for best functional outcome following physician orders


* Educates staff, other health care professionals and third-party payer on the benefits and functional outcomes of therapy interventions


* Provides in-service trainings or other educational presentations to company, as needed - updating policies and procedures as they relate to the department


* Communicates with assistants and rehabilitation technicians providing clear directives concerning patients and their treatment plans prior to initiation of patient care


* Confers with Program Specialists and department leaders to develop and implement new programs and techniques to enhance program utilization


* Submits billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner
