Environmental Health & Safety Engineer

Schneider Electric has an excellent opportunity for a EH&S Engineer position at our facility in Cedar Rapids, IA.

In this role, you'll ensure compliance with EHS regulations, lead incident investigations, coordinate with maintenance and management for safety controls, and oversee permitting submissions

This position cover 1st shift operations (M-F from 7 am - 4 pm approx.)

What will a candidate get to do in this position?


* Interface with employees on implementation of engineering and administrative controls


* Lead job hazard analysis and hazard assessments to identify loss potential of our systems and processes as well as recommending appropriate corrective actions.


* Train associates, supervisors, and other employees in the areas of general safety and environmental awareness, specific program requirements and specific job requirements.

Work with SH&E Manager to create training programs.


* Conduct regular facility wide inspections and audits to identify & correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.


* Assist in activities to implement engineering controls to improve air quality.


* Assist SH&E Manager to ensure the facility maintains compliance with safety and environmental programs, regulations, and company policy.


* Work with SH&E Manager to review location standards, policies, and practices as necessary to assure they are current and in concert with company and/or regulatory requirements, making revisions as necessary.


* Work with site ergonomic specialist on ergonomic assessments and improvements.


* Participate in site safety committee.


* Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.


* Complete monthly training on safety and environmental topics.


* Promote a SAFE First culture of zero incidents and strong value on our human resources.


* Assist SH&E Manager with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

Who will you report to? SERE Manager

What qualification will make you successfull for this role?


* Bachelor's degree from accredited institution is required.


* Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, job safety analysis processes, accident investigation experience, and ISO 14000 & ISO 45001.


* +2 years of experience in safety & environmental or engineering role.


* Embraces a culture of continuous improvement and strives to always exceed expectations.

Will help drive the culture that every incident is avoidable and being proactive in detecting and eliminating risk is everyone's responsibility.


* Passionate about sustainable development and will help drive the team to continuously reduce the consumption of resources and the environmental impact of the operation.
