Perinatal Sonographer (Perinatal Program, Lakeland)

Nemours is seeking a Perinatal Sonographer, FULL-TIME, to join our team in Lakeland, Florida.

Perinatal Sonographer will provide high quality ultrasounds for interpretation and diagnosis by a Maternal Fetal medicine physician.

To act as a preceptor in performing high quality pediatric echocardiograms for students, novice sonographers and fellows.

Perform maternal fetal medicine ultrasound on patients


* Operate all equipment to perform diagnostic ultrasound.

Use correct parameters based on patient age and diagnosis.

This includes 2D, Doppler and color Doppler,


* Efficiently and effectively perform pre-work by searching for relevant information related to prior ultrasound exam.


* Communicate efficiently and effectively with ordering and/or interpreting physician - prior to studies and as needed to define study goals.


* Measure all M-mode, 2D, Doppler, and color Doppler flow patterns.

Calculate measurements, formulas, and ratios.

Enter calculations and measurements into patient report in PACS and AS software reporting system.


* Analyze images and correctly annotate in PACS system.


* Act as a preceptor and resource for students, novice sonographers and fellows in clinical situations.


* Participate in research studies as requested.


* Must demonstrate consistent proficiency in competencies for this position.


* Consistently arrives on shift prior to shift begin time ready and able to work.


* Demonstrates professional conduct at all times in behavior and appearance.


* Participates in Fetal Echocardiography examinations.

Provide care with consideration of patient's age, diagnosis, psycho-social characteristics and family stressors that affect ability to understand or retain instructions.

Maintain service excellence in all aspects of echo lab operations.


* Demonstrates strong communication skills and patient service skills always introducing self to the patient and family and effectively relaying ultrasound procedure and routine of the clinic.


* Provide education as appropriate regarding the echo imaging carefully excluding any comment regarding diagnosis and management

Participate in performance improvement activities designed to improve patient care and/or organizational processes


* Actively utilize performance improvement processes and promote collaboration in the process


* Identify problems and communicates these to appropriate resources and seek opportunities to participate in implementing solutions


* Work to improve patient satisfaction and employee satisfaction by promoting Service Excellence

Job Requirements


* Associate's Degree required.


* Completion of Certified Ultrasound Program.


* Minimum one year experience required.


* RDMS registered required.


* NT Certification required.


* AHA BLS Certification required.


* Fetal Echo Certification preferred.
