Process Control Engineer

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a qualified professional for the role of Process Control Engineer within the corporate Process Control Center of Excellence based in Atlanta, GA.

A successful candidate will enjoy utilizing engineering expertise to remotely solve problems and improve the reliability and functionality of existing control systems and instrumentation.

This role is ideally based in Atlanta, GA but can also be remote.

The role will require travel to sites periodically.

Our Team

The Process Control Engineer in this role will have a partnership with our North American OSB manufacturing operations as well as our Pulp and Paper mills.

What You Will Do



* Ensure facility control systems are operating safely, reliably, efficiently


* Provide troubleshooting and support of the daily manufacturing operation


* Provide guidance to manufacturing operations on selection and implementation of process control technologies and strategies


* Optimize existing control strategies to more efficiently create our products


* Assist designing, programming, modifying, and maintaining mills' control systems


* Pursue engineering solutions to resolve equipment deficiencies


* Support control migrations, design, and startup of existing and new systems

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)



* Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering


* OR


* Related technical degree with 3+ years experience working within a manufacturing operation


* 2+ years of professional experience working with PLC based systems to include troubleshooting, configuration, and design


* Experience modifying and troubleshooting Rockwell ControlLogix systems


* Ability to travel approximately 50-75%

What Will Put You Ahead



* Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical, Electrical, or Paper Science Engineering


* Experience working in the pulp and paper industry


* 5 or more years of professional experience working with DCS and PLC based control systems to include troubleshooting, configuration, and design
